Farley’s Finds: Film, Food & Favorites – September 29

Farley’s Finds: Film, Food and Favorites is a weekly series where I share with you what I love, what is deserving of a toast of whiskey, where I’ll be (events) and what I’m looking forward to this upcoming week. It’s sounds totally self-centered, but REALLY it’s because I stumble on some really amazing things other people are doing and I want to share them with you. So there! AND there’s only 1 day left before October, my favorite month of the whole year!

I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan, I like my meat. However, I did see a video of a little baby pig the other day that may have ruined bacon for me. But, eating healthy is a high priority for me right now and one place that I know I can get a good meal that is good for me is Green New American. The crab puffs and the coconut curry bowl are two of my go-tos when I’m there. They have some pretty scrumptious sweet treats too. This is one place where I can truly indulge in a hearty meal without feeling guilty!

Pat Shannahan and I have started a video series called ‘Totally AZ’ for azcentral.com and The Republic. We have a passion for exploring the state we live in and want to share the unique experiences that y...

My girl Sarah Haywood insisted that I try this place and I am so glad she did! Zookz is know for “sandwiches with an edge” and I couldn’t have said it better myself. My dad always loved sandwiches, I had always preferred pasta myself thinking that sammiches weren’t exactly the most sophisticated or tasty of foods, but Zookz totally blows all of my thoughts on sandwich limitations away! It’s right downtown, yummy and quick! Best thing you’ll put in your mouth all day, I promise 😉

I don’t know who would have thunk it, but the Phoenix Symphony is getting hip! Their season lineup includes everything from a Star Wars themed night to the music of cinematic score genius John Williams to a super heroes themed night and a Harry Potter Halloween at Hogwarts. I keep buying individual tickets, bu...

Sundays may be a designated day of rest, but it is also a day or pork. Heavenly Bakeshop and Catering makes whole suckling pig  or Lechon on Sundays and you can buy it by the pound or in a plate with white rice. It is super tasty and the complex is mainly Filipino so every time we walk in the owner gets excited and takes our picture to post on Facebook to show all of her friends and family that she got a non-Filipino customer. It’s a great family-run business and the food is incredible.

So if you’ve tried to remain in denial that the digital age has not revolutionized or impacted our concept of fame, celebrity or even talent, then I’m sorry to say that you’re about to get hit over the head with reality...

Farley’s Finds: Film, Food & Favorites – September 2

Happy September! Fall is coming, I can feel it … Farley’s Finds: Film, Food and Favorites is a weekly series where I share with you what I love, what is deserving of a toast of whiskey, where I’ll be (events) and what I’m looking forward to this upcoming week. I’m writing this at lunch ergo I am hungry, ergo I shall start with food. If you live in the East Valley and are a even a mildly adventurous eater, I highly, strongly, absolutely recommend popping into Lee’s Sandwiches off of Warner and Dobson in Chandler. It’s a large shop specializing in Asian and European cuisine. It is also a bakery where they make some of the best baguettes I’ve ever had and a market! The BBQ pork sandwich (Special #6) is my ultimate fave, but it is not ordinary BBQ pork just FYI. They take cash only. Give a try!

It’s a known fact I work for the media and a lot of digital organizations are trying to understand the online behaviors of millennials right now. It is a painstaking journey...
